Holiday Pistachio and Cranberry Nougat Cupcakes

Are you noticing all the lovely nougat candy bars in stores? Holiday time is when these confections take center stage on many candy shelves. Traditional nougat originated in southern Europe and is often associated with the Christmas season. It’s made from whipped egg whites, sugar, roasted nuts and dried fruits. It’s perfect to dress up cupcakes for the holidays. Check out how easy it is to make these Holiday Pistachio and  Cranberry Nougat Cupcakes.

Holiday Pistachio and Cranberry Nougat Cupcakes

1 pkg white cake mix

1 – 2 tbsp cranberry juice

1 (16-ounce) container ready-to-use white frosting

4 bars of pistachio cranberry nougat (or other nut / fruit flavor), crumbled

2 pkgs (12 each) pre-made small white icing roses (such as Wilton)

Prepare white cake mix as directed for 24 cupcakes. Let cool to room temperature.

Stir cranberry juice into white frosting until mixed throughout to obtain desired pink color.

Frost cupcakes. Garnish each cupcake with coarsely crumbled and divided nougat. Place a small rose in the center of each cupcake.

Yield: 24 cupcakes
